
Adam is Chief Sustainability & External Affairs Officer at Suez UK Ltd. He is a member of the senior management team with responsibility for central government and stakeholder engagement & liaison, thought leadership, industry communications, internal communications, public affairs and corporate sustainability. He also supports the corporate team in generating new services & solutions for clients, for supporting the municipal bid team on client engagement, and the marketing & comms teams with industry presentations, workshop facilitation and trade journal articles etc. He is highly visible on social media and will be helping to develop the Suez corporate brand through his input to industry working groups, panels and think tanks, including on-going roles with the ESA, ISWA and CIWM.
He is an experienced waste management academic and consultant with over 29 years' of sector experience from both the UK and overseas. He has specialised in waste management policy development, strategic decision-making, consultation, communication, behaviour change, procurement and training.
Adam is well known in the UK for his influential thinking and pioneering work on public attitudes to waste, recycling system development and the delivery of waste management promotional campaigns, and has worked all over the world on service procurement, service reviews and stakeholder consultation. Adam is also a respected ‘waste management’ academic, holding visiting lectureships at a number of UK Universities, and sits on the Editorial Board of a number of the leading academic journals, including Resources, Conservation & Recycling, as well as writing regular blogs for Recycling & Waste World.
Adam currently serves as a Trustee and sits on the CIWM's Executive Committee, whilst also representing the CIWM on the ISWA Communications Working Group, the Skills for the Future Working Group and the Advisory Board of the Society for the Environment. He has represented the waste & resources sector on the Government's Green Jobs Delivery Group and was awarded an MBE in the Kings Birthday Honours List (June 2024).
