William E. Preston is the Executive Director of the Global Syngas Technologies Council, the international syngas industry’s premier trade association.

Bill recently retired as the President and Chief Executive Officer of KP Engineering, since acquired by the Shaw Group. KPE was a leading engineering, procurement, and fabrication company that was a recognized leader in hydrogen, syngas, refining, and renewable fuels.

He is a distinguished process industry innovator with 42 years of business leadership, project development, project management and engineering experience. Beginning in 1982, Mr. Preston served in a variety of capacities for Texaco and Chevron beginning as a process engineer and culminating as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Global Gas and Power business unit. He had the lead responsibility for the development of numerous refining, syngas and power generation facilities. He went on to executive management positions in international technology companies Linc Energy Ltd., Synthesis Energy Systems, GreatPoint Energy, and the Energy Capital Group.

Mr. Preston earned an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Chemistry from Pomona College. He is the recipient of numerous industry awards and honors and has authored and presented numerous technology related articles and papers.
