Dr Andrea Jordan, who holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering, is a Principal Consultant at Fichtner Consulting Engineers Limited specialising in waste-to-fuels, efuels, chemical recycling and carbon capture technologies.
With more than 20 years of professional experience, including a decade at Fichtner Consulting Engineers Ltd, she advises investors, lenders, technology developers, and government technical specialists on biofuels technologies and projects across the UK, Europe, the Far East, North and South America, and the Caribbean. Additionally, she provides technical direction and expertise on projects in the wider Fichtner group.
Dr Jordan is highly skilled in evaluating and optimising gasification and pyrolysis technologies and has commissioned and operated prototype and commercial systems for power generation and production of syngas for new fuels. She is knowledgeable in fixed bed, fluidised bed, and entrained flow gasification systems, as well as rotating kiln and novel pyrolysis systems. She has extensive experience in feedstock chemistries and feedstock behaviour during gasification and has published peer-reviewed research on process factors influencing tar formation and the chemical composition of syngas and process residues.
Her expertise extends to carbon capture technologies, and at Fichtner UK she is the Sector Lead on CCS. She has led several feasibility studies on integrating CCS with Energy from Waste plants. Her primary focus is on the behaviour and performance of capture media, to assess how these influence energy penalty, performance, project costs and safety.
Dr Jordan asserts that the commercial-scale implementation of new fuels and carbon capture technologies is absolutely essential for advancing a circular economy - an approach that not only addresses the adverse effects of climate change but also fosters a greener and more equitable economy.
