The energy from waste industry is facing a time of significant change, with considerable impacts from ETS systems and from global decarbonisation goals. In this panel some of the sector’s most respected leaders explore the questions the industry is facing, including -

ETS – a measure which will drive decarbonization and efficiency – or a loss of plants, increased costs and unintended consequences?
Energy from Waste, SAF, chemical recycling – are they synergistic? Are they in competition? How will the industry look in 20 years? Optimizing the fleet and its role in decarbonization: how do you balance heat production, energy production, CCS / CCU, hydrogen production?
Feedstock – how much will circular economy ambitions impact on residual waste in the next ten years? What are the longer-term views on gate fees, volumes and capacity? Can operators control the composition of their feedstock? Will RDF exports eventually be banned?
Do we need to work to a carbon hierarchy for waste now, rather than a waste hierarchy?
