A graduate of HEC Paris and a former student of ENA, Xavier Girre began his career at the French Cour des comptes.

In 1999 he joined Veolia Environnement as Group Risk and Audit Director, then Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer of Veolia Transport and Veolia Propreté.

In 2011, he continued his career at La Poste, where he became Chief Financial Officer. He joined the EDF Group in 2015 as Group Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Committee, and, as of 2024, he was Group Senior Executive Vice President in charge of Performance, Impact, Investment and Finance Directorate.

On July 1st, 2025, Xavier Girre was appointed Chief Executive Officer of SUEZ. Xavier Girre is a Board member and Chairman of the Audit and Risks Committee of FDJ United and Chairman of the Paris Europlace Corporate College.

Xavier Girre is an Officer of the National Order of Merit.
