Herwart Wilms (born 11 June 1961) is a seasoned executive in the environmental and waste management sector. After studying economics, social sciences, and German language and literature in Bochum, he began his career at a medium-sized holding company within RWE Umwelt AG, initially focusing on personnel development. He later took on responsibilities in sales, marketing, and public relations.

In 2002, Mr. Wilms became Spokesperson of the Management Board of RWE Umwelt RheinRuhr GmbH, and in 2004, he was appointed Head of Overall Sales and Dual Systems at RWE Umwelt AG. Since 2005, he has served as Managing Director of the REMONDIS Group, one of the world's largest recycling, water, and service companies.

In addition to his corporate role, Mr. Wilms is President-elect of the European Waste Management Association (FEAD), Chairman of the Raw Materials Committee of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), a member of the Advisory Board of the VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency (VDI ZRE), and a member of the Resource Commission at the Federal Environment Agency.

He is married and has two sons.
