
Kye is Bristol’s Cabinet Member for Climate, Ecology, Energy, and Waste. He was appointed to Cabinet by Mayor Marvin Rees following his election as Labour Councillor for Southmead in February 2022.
He leads on the £1 billion City Leap clean energy investment programme and managing the relationship with council-owned Bristol Waste Company, including building a new Household Reuse and Recycling Centre. Kye has almost two decades of experience as a trade union official in the postal industry, leading local and national negotiations as a former Member of the Communications Workers Union National Executive Committee, and is currently a consultant at a local youth charity.
Kye has previously held executive responsibility for Transport and Regulatory Services in the city, and represented Central Bristol from 2016 – 2021.
